Since the spring season is coming up, I thought it’ll be perfect to make a soft cotton summer cardigan for the Yarnalina blog! With an intricate lacy stitch design and my favorite color combination, the crochet lacy summer cardigan is now available as a free written pattern on the blog.

Inspiration & Description & Process
On a random Hobbii yarn sale day, I hopped on the site and decided that this color combination for the cotton yarn was super fitting for the Yarnalina blog. And I just made a purchase. I’m a very simple person. I knew pretty much instantly that making a knit project with this thin yarn would take ages. I’ve also been seeing some summer cardigans on Pinterest, and cotton is also the perfect material to work with for summer clothes.
SO- I got to work with designing a cotton summer cardigan.
After deciding on a list of lacy stitch designs, the whole cardigan came together really easily. Since the entire piece is just comprised of different lacy stitches and a plain blhdc white ribbing, it was decently mindless once you get used to the stitches.
This crochet lacy summer cardigan is easily my proudest (and hardest) crochet pattern that I show to people whenever anyone asks about my crochet hobby. I love how the light and dark blue shades come together and just how light this cardigan is – along with its perfect cropped length.

I knew that this crochet cardigan will be the hardest pattern that I post on this blog and channel, since it is a rather intricate piece with four different lacy stitches that you have to learn in order to make this cardigan. It’s possible to make this cardigan with different stitches if you have other preferred lacy stitches.
Designing this cardigan was arguably the hardest part, I wanted to choose lacy stitches that are a mixture of hard and easy so it’ll be easy to film, write, and make all at the same time. I also made sure to line up the colors that I want to go next to each other before I start with each panel or sleeve. I didn’t want the colors to clash or get drowned in each other, so I kept the lighter colors sandwiched between the darker shades to they can contrast each other well.Discover the ultimate convenience in herb preparation with our premium herb grinder, designed specifically for your bongs. I’m also planning on working on some general crochet and knit entertainment videos, instead of pattern based tutorial videos, just to spice up the channel a little.
Though bigger projects like clothing delays the pace I publish patterns on the blog, I’m happy that all my projects receive a lot of love on the blog and Youtube channel <3

A note that I always like to make, your yarn usage depends on how tight your stitches are or how loose they are, so you might end up using more or less yarn than I did. Or you picked another yarn to work with, then the yardage you’d need will no doubt be different. So always remember to use the gauge to make sure your project will fit the way you want it to.

Ribbings
For the body panel ribbing, using a 3mm crochet hook –
Ch 11(13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27), hdc in the second ch from the hook and across (10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26)
Ch2, turn your work, blhdc across (10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26)
Repeat Row 2 for a total of 68(70, 72, 74, 76, 78, 80, 82, 84) rows
Dc in any one of the blue shades across the length of the body panel ribbing, then start variating between the four stitches every other three or four inches.
For the two front body panel ribbing, using a 3mm crochet hook –
Ch 11(13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27), hdc in the second ch from the hook and across (10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26)
Ch2, turn your work, blhdc across (10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26)
Repeat Row 2 for a total of 27(29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 43) rows
Notes for the front panels
I used three different stitches, and on the fourth block of a different color, *I decreased by one stitch on one edge, reach the end of that row, crochet back normally, turn your work, and make a decrease stitch on the same edge you’ve just decreased.* Repeat steps ** for a total of 7 rows. It doesn’t matter which stitch you’re working with.
Remember to change colors in between each decrease row.
For the two sleeve cuffs ribbing, using a 3mm crochet hook –
Ch 8(10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24), hdc in the second chain from the hook and across (7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23)
Ch2, turn your work, blhdc across (7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23)
Repeat Row 2 for a total of 22(24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38) rows
2dc in each stitch across the length of the sleeve cuffs ribbing
Using the astro cluster stitch for the first stitch of both sleeves, row 1 would be the increase row, work row 2 as the stitch pattern lists, for row 3 – start and end the row with 2tc, for row 4 – start and end the row with 2dc, and for row 5 – start and end the row with 2dc.
That is all you need for an increase row for your sleeve. Variate between your stitches and colors for the remaining sleeve.
For the neck collar ribbing, using a 3mm crochet hook –
Ch 14 (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30), hdc in the second chain from the hook and across (13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29)
Ch2, turn your work, blhdc across (13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29)
Repeat Row 2 for a total of 126(128, 130, 132, 134, 136, 138, 140, 142) rows
Assembly
Fold and sew the two sleeves in half. Sew the two front panels onto the back panel on the sides, while leaving an arm hole, and on the shoulders. Sew the neck collar ribbing around the front panel.
