The crochet ombre tie-dye blanket is made with a granny rectangle with the prettiest color way! Read on to find out how to make the blanket for yourself using the free written pattern below!
Inspiration & Description & Process
Tie-dye has always been a popular form of DIY and the spotted/swirly/patched design is now seen commonly on shirts and etc.
So I thought the same could apply to crochet blankets! After reaching out to Lion Brand for yarn support, they supplied me with all the yarn used for this blanket! The Lion Brand Mandala Ombre Yarn in Happy used for the crochet ombre tie-dye blanket is not only soft to the touch but it also has the most vibrant colors!
Not only is Happy a gorgeous color to use for a blanket, Lion Brand Mandala Ombre Yarn also has amazing color ways such as Cool (black + gray color way), Harmony (blue/shibori color way), Chi (purple color way), and Zen (mint color way)!
In addition, this blanket is one of the few projects that I’ve created that ended up just as how I pictured it initially. Without any redos or mistakes, it just came together perfectly!
The inspiration came from the swirl pattern of tie-dye and I thought that the granny square fits the theme! But I wanted a rectangle blanket instead, which led to this blanket being created as a granny rectangle! While I had debated over the border as I was gradually finishing the last couple rows of the rectangle, I eventually settled upon a simple back loop double crochet border. The border has a clear right and wrong side unlike the granny rectangle base itself, so that was one way to distinguish the right and wrong side using the border.
This crochet ombre tie-dye blanket is an incredibly mindless project to work on as your fingers can just feel the next space for the hook to crochet!
