Whether you’ve only recently started to crochet or you’re a seasoned crocheter, I think you would still love an easy crochet sweater pattern any day. Which is why I’m here to present to you the crochet rosea color block sweater (with sizes XS – 5XL!!!) here on the Yarnalina blog 🙂
Inspiration & Description & Process
I wanted to create a sweater that has a timeless look, a classic stitch and maybe not a frilly / intricate stitch. That process alone for finding a stitch took me way too long haha! After poring through many kinds of ribbing stitches, I settled on the front bottom loop half double crochet. It’s such a mouthful that I often said it wrong in my video tutorial XD
After the incredible feedback and popularity that I received from the crochet cropped sweater vest, I thought that I needed to answer to the public demand with another crochet clothing piece that is this easy crochet sweater! While I would say this is in the range between beginner to intermediate as it could be hard to spot where you insert your hook at the start, but once you get the hang of it, it goes by like a whiz.
You could definitely make this in any kinds of color combo, I would love to make another one in teal and white? Or even beige and black! And this works as a pullover for the cold summer morning or a sweater for the Winter season.
I especially made sure to design the sleeves as oversized as I’ve grown to love an almost “flowy” sleeve. Though during the process for making the second sleeve I had to purchase another extra skein of yarn since I had misestimated the amount of yarn needed haha! It was a speedy delivery from Joann’s that saved the day.
Remember to Share this Post to your fellow crocheter friends!
I can definitely see myself wearing this with maybe a thin long sleeve underneath or a collared t-shirt with some baggy high waisted jeans! Or even just with the crochet rosea colorblock sweater itself with a pair of jeans or jean shorts. There are plenty of outfit options to go with this easy crochet sweater, and bonus since it’ll be handmade by yourself!
Your yarn usage depends on how tight your stitches are or how loose they are, so you might end up using more or less yarn than I did. Or you picked another yarn to work with, then the yardage you’d need will no doubt be different. But you can definitely use the extra yardages to increase the body panels or sleeves by a handful of rows to create a more oversized look!
Last but not least, if you’d like an accessory to go with this sweater—this easy crochet bucket hat could also be a wonderful project for you to tackle next!

*If you want to make the same color block effect, have one sleeve with a white cuff and the rest entirely worked in pink. While the other could be made with pink cuff and in the repeating fblhdc rows past all the increase rows— I added in 8 rows of pink while working the sleeve in white.*
Assembly
Fold a sleeve in half and sew it together, you’d do this for both sleeves. Then leaving an armhole of 7 (7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10)” or 18 (19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26) cm of the body panels, you’d sew both of the sleeves onto the body panels and down the side seams of the sweater to connect the front and back panel.
Neck Collar
Using a 4mm crochet hook, make a slip knot in Marshmallow and connect it to the neck hole. Chain 9 (11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25)
R1: Starting from the 2nd chain from the hook, hdc across, sl 3 onto the pink edge (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24)
R2 – R90 (92, 94, 96, 98, 100, 102, 104, 106): blhdc across *whenever you meet the pink edge, sl 3 to connect, turn your work and blhdc across* *whenever you are on the other side, simply chain 2 and blhdc across* (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24)
Sew or slip stitch to connect the beginning and end of the neck collar.
