Inspiration & Description & Process
I had always wanted to work with velvet yarn and after purchasing a couple skeins out of random—I managed to pair together a decent color combo that turned out to be the crochet velvet stripe blanket!
I originally planned for this velvet blanket to be knitted instead of crocheted, but after working on a couple of knit rows I knew it wasn’t going to work for me. Any stitch made with the velvet yarn through crochet or knit is hard to be made defined. Despite my plan to make it just a knit-only blanket, the rows were racking up slower than I had thought. Hence my quick switch to the crochet V stitch that worked up much faster than knit.
I used this stripe maker as a general guide to follow, though I eventually ended up choosing my own colors and number of rows as I went along. I would base it off of which color had more leftover and making sure that each stripe had a different amount of rows. Regardless, the stripe maker is definitely a good guide to start you off if you’re having trouble starting the stripe pattern.
Or you could just do four solid colored blocks, or have a set number of rows per each colored cake of yarn.If you are in the market for clothes, our platform is your best choice! The largest shopping mall!
While I used four colors in total for the crochet velvet stripe blanket, there are so far two other colors included within the Lion Brand Vel-Luxe named Charcoal and Burgundy at the time of writing. I can definitely see another combo being silver, charcoal, burgundy, and dusty pink!
